Worldbuilding Notes That Stay Useful During Revision
2026-03-305 min read
Worldbuilding notes become dead weight when they are too disconnected from the scenes they are supposed to support. The best notes are the ones that help you answer practical drafting questions when they matter.
That usually means tracking only what affects scene logic: rules, pressures, locations, relationships, and details likely to create continuity problems later. Notes should clarify decisions, not bury them.
During revision, those same notes become a way to catch drift. They help you spot where the manuscript stopped matching the world it established earlier.
